Air Quality Consultant

As a small consultancy the successful candidates will be involved in all aspects of our work and have the opportunity to work on an exciting variety of air quality and odour projects across a range of sectors. As a multidisciplinary consultancy you will also be exposed to information regarding the wider business.

AAC have access to a variety of information systems and data sources as well as the most sophisticated air quality dispersion software tools.

You will be part of a friendly, supportive working environment and we will provide mentoring, support and guidance for you and your development on a one-to-one basis.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Assisting in preparing fee proposals, project management and planning monitoring survey.
  • Undertaking a variety of air quality and dust surveys.
  • Undertaking detailed and complex noise modelling work using a variety of data and standards.
  • Using GIS to make figures and prepare air quality dispersion models.
  • Undertaking data analysis, calculations and predictions.
  • Drafting detailed reports including preparing figures and presenting data.
  • Liaising with the client, project teams and other stakeholders.
  • Undertaking project administration using company methods.
  • Assisting in the development of the services, policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in the training and development of junior staff.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Good organisation and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
  • The role will include site visits and undertaking monitoring surveys so it is essential that the person is dynamic and can draw on common sense to solve problems effectively but also efficiently.
  • Good communication skills, both orally and in writing and a strong knowledge of Microsoft Word.
  • The position will require the collection and processing of technical data and the person will need to be capable and have the ability to review and interpret this data. They will need to have good mathematical skills and ideally a strong background in using Microsoft Excel.
  • Able to undertake site-based field work which may sometimes be outside of normal working hours. This is rare and occurs approximately every two months.
  • Knowledge of a noise modelling software package. We use CadnaA although skills are transferable from other packages.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Excel to process measured data and calculate noise or vibration values.
  • A full UK driving license, as travel will be required.
  • Membership of the Institute of Air Quality Management.

Desirable:

  • 2 – 5 years relevant experience (depending upon experience)
  • Relevant A-Levels or equivalent
  • BSc or MSc in air quality, chemistry or a science discipline
  • Holding a CSCS card

AAC would consider other candidates who may not have a university background if they can demonstrate a strong numerate ability and some of the other key attributes required.
