Air & Acoustic Consultants Limited were commissioned by Palace Estates to undertake an air quality and noise assessment in support of a planning application for a proposed mixed-use development, located on land at the former Chatham Fire Station, Watling Street, Chatham.

Project Details

The planning application sought approval for the change of use from fire station (now discontinued and buildings demolished) to part retail store and part residential. Construction of food retail store with 4 residential apartments above; Construction of 5 two storey dwellings with means of access, car parking, store servicing and landscaping. To note, the existing noise climate at the site was dominated by road traffic as well as being affected by ambulance sirens as they left the nearby Medway Ambulance Station. AAC supported the project with a range of environmental assessment services including:

  • Air Quality Impact Assessment
  • Noise Impact Assessment
  • Noise Monitoring
  • Proposal of mitigation measures
  • Review of relevant Local and National Policy
