Who are we?

AAC, are an independent Consultancy who are Experts in Air Quality, Noise, Odour and Vibration.

Our two directors bring together extensive knowledge and experience from within the Public Sector, including Research Projects, Environmental Protection and Environmental Health, combined with Private Sector knowledge and experience.

As experts in our fields we can provide Expert Witness testimony at planning hearings, appeal, public inquiries but also have experience in preparing prosecution cases and giving evidence at prosecution hearings (Magistrate and Crown Court) for a variety of environmental offences including Statutory Nuisance.

AAC draws on this knowledge and experience to provide a comprehensive range of consultancy services including type, nature or scale of development.

Our professional services include the assessment of air quality, noise, odour and vibration, with a primary emphasis on development planning. We aim to supporting our clients through the planning process from concept to completion and to achieve this we are experts in real time monitoring, measurement and predictive modelling (of both air pollution and noise), impact assessment, mitigation design, environmental permitting, nuisance investigation and neighbourly matters.

The Team

David and Simon have worked together since 2013 and in 2018 set up Air and Acoustic Consultants Ltd, to deliver high quality environmental consultancy services specialising in noise, vibration and air quality assessments.

Air and Acoustic Consultants Ltd has a full in-house monitoring capability and extensive knowledge and experience in the leading environmental modelling software including the ADMS, Air Pollution Dispersion Model, and also the CadnaA noise propagation model.

David is a Chartered Environmentalist, a full voting member of both the Institute of Acoustics and the Institute of Air Quality Management, combining over 12 years’ public sector experience within Environmental Health and Environmental Protection before gaining extensive experience delivering environmental assessments and managing multidisciplinary teams within the private sector.

Simon is a full voting member of the Institute of Air Quality Management and has extensive experience of working within the private sector delivering environmental assessments, with further experience in Transport Planning and Town and Country Planning.

Ben Bryan
Principal Acoustic Consultant

Ben joined AAC in 2021 after previously working for large multidisciplinary companies, he has 7 years of experience in most things noise and vibration including for residential, commercial, mineral projects and EIA schemes. He has also worked on construction consenting, Section 61 applications and compliance monitoring for construction noise and vibration. He has recently been involved in noise assessments for battery energy storage systems, which are becoming more important in the UK energy mix. He is a full member of the IOA

Matthew Park
Air Quality Consultant

Matthew joined AAC in 2022 and has worked on various air quality, dust, and odour assessments for residential, commercial, mineral projects and large EIA schemes. He graduated from the University of Birmingham with an MSc in Air Pollution Management and Control in 2023 and is an associate member of the Institute of Air Quality Management and the Institute of Environmental Sciences.

Jon-Henry Price
Graduate Acoustic Consultant

Jon joined AAC in 2023 and splits his time between noise surveys and report writing on a wide range of noise and vibration projects for planning and infrastructure / construction projects throughout the UK. Jon looks forward to gaining more experience at AAC and learning more about the acoustic industry through starting his Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control in September 2024.

Owain Rose
Graduate Air Quality Consultant
Owain joined AAC in 2023, after being awarded a Clean Air Fellowship from the University of Birmingham, where he graduated with an MSc in Air Pollution Management and Control. Owain has worked on projects spanning indoor air quality, dust monitoring and management, road transport modelling and odour assessments.
